Exported PDF report has blank pages
SSRS 05
Hi I have a report with 15 columns that I would like to appear all on one page in PDF format. But when I print layout or export to PDF every second page is blank.
I have changed the report properties to landscape measurements and adjusted the table and the surrounding list to fit there width on the page.
Report Properties
Page Width 11.4in Height 8.2 Left margin 1in Right margin 1in
Interactive Size Width 0 Height 0
Body Size
Width 10in Height 7.8in
List
Width 9.25in Height .93in
Can anyone assist I am not sure what else to do?
Thanks

Hi There
Please try to adjust your margins (top + side) and hopefully this problem will get resolved
Body Width <= Page Width - (Left Margin + Right Margin)
Horizontal usable area:
X = Page.Width - (Left Margin + Right Margin + Column Spacing)
Vertical usable area:
Y = Page.Height - (Top Margin + Bottom Margin + Header Height + Footer Height)
Body Width <= Page Width - (Left Margin + Right Margin)
Horizontal usable area:
X = Page.Width - (Left Margin + Right Margin + Column Spacing)
Vertical usable area:
Y = Page.Height - (Top Margin + Bottom Margin + Header Height + Footer Height)
In Reporting Services, there are white spaces preserved in the report body by default. When the white space extends the body size beyond the width of the report, blank pages will be generated. To avoid the issue, you can set the ConsumeContainerWhiteSpace
property of the report to True.
Alo please amke sure if youhave any textbox in the footer please set cangrow property to false
If you have any questions please ask.
Many Thanks

As far as I can tell ConsumeContainerWhiteSpace property of the report to True is a 2008 option not a 2005.

Hi There
Thanks for your posting again. My apology for that, you are absolutely right, I did not noticed that you are using SSRS 2005. In SSRS 2005, white spaces are automatically ignored.
Please try to adjust margins as well as if you think you have any textbox in the footer and its cangrow property set to true please set it to false
Many thanks

Not sure what or how to set X and Y is?
Page.Width 11.4 - (1+1+-.62) = X? 8.8
Page.Height 8.2 - (1+1+.25+.25) = Y? 5.7

Hi There
Thanks for your posting. Please try to click on your print layout icon and it will give you indication whether you will have extra page while exporting or printing. Please try to reduce the margins as well say .5 and .5 both on height and width
I am putting screenshot

Why does selecting the table and moving it to the right so the columns fit on one page increase the number of pages?
It starts off with 30 pages, with the extra 3 columns going on another page every second time. So I reduce the size of the table by selecting the right side and dragging it to the left until all the columns fit on one page(print layout screen).
But the total number of pages goes up huh??
Is it adding more rows to the bottom that I can't see???

Thanks for your posting again. When we reduce the size of the columns, then the text inside the textbox will grow vertically and you might have noticed that your data might have wrapped up to next line inside textbox. Because when we set cangrow property to
true then data inside textbox will grow vertically if it does not fit within the width of the textbox
I hope this will help

Thanks for the replies.
I set that grow and shrink option for the text box to false, it certainly improved it down to 10 pages but still getting a second page blank.

Hi There
It mean that you have to reduce your margin a bit more (just bit more and I hope you will be fine). As you are not getting any text in the blank page mean that if you reduce your margin a bit more then it will be fine while exporting it to PDF/Excel
Many thanks
I hope this will help
