Explorer view slow.
Hello everybody,I tried to find a fix for this problem on the www, but couldn't find anything: A customer is trying to upload documents in an explorer view, she uses a drag & drop screen to share her document. The problem is that it's very slow. Any ideas?

If she is not happy with the speed, show her how to use the normal Upload Multiple Document method.

Hi mike, thanx for your suggestion. So is the explorer view just not workable? Because this Sharepoint project that I'm working on is a pilot. So there are just a handful of users. And there is very decent hardware + network capabilities. So my thoughts were that this is a Sharepoint problem, and not the patience of a user.

All,I know this is an old thread but i had the same issue and managed to solve it. I had IE7 and office 2007 installed. When i opened a document straight from sharepoint it took ages. When i opened a document library in Explorer view it took ages. Right clicking on an Explorer view also took ages to give me the menu.I went as far a reinstalling office 2007 and even installed IE8 RC1and the problems persisted. I then ran a registry an file trace on my PC to try and figure out what was happening and noticed a lot of tcpip related info. So, i went to internet explorer and under Tools->Internet Options->Connections->LAN settings i unticked "Automatically Detect Settings". Voila!! Everything flies....

This worked for me too. IE8, Office 2007, Sharepoint 2003. The loading and saving of Word and Excel documents was painfully slow. Un-checking "Automatically Detect Settings" makes the response time snappy. Keith
