Expired updates in All Software Updates

After doing WSUSUTIL RESET and doing a Synchronize Software Updates to get some updates to appear which weren't appearing previously, we now see alot of updates with the expired iconand Software Update Groups with expired updates.  Do we need to purge the expired updates ?  How ?

Is there anything to check in the SoftwareDistribution.log under \Program Files\Update Services\LogFiles to check that the WSUSUTIL RESET has finished ?  (it's been ~24 hrs since we last did the WSUSUTIL RESET) ?

Thanks

Expired updates that are not part of any existing deployments will be removed according to the updates cleanup settings. You can check the wsyncmgr.log to see the expired update cleanup.Configuration Manager will never delete any expired updates associated with an active deployment and you must remove them when required.

couple of blog post to remove the expired updates from update group  http://www.scconfigmgr.com/2014/11/18/remove-expired-and-superseded-updates-from-a-software-update-group-with-powershell/

Thanks.  So metadata and distributed content for expired updates will get removed automatically, after disassociation from update groups.  Where is the source directory for updates ?  Is it the \WSUS\WsusContent\ folder ?

If you look at the link I sent you can see that the expired updates will get removed by SCCM but NOT the content.  The blog shows a sample script that you could use to remove the content.

The source directory for updates is not \WSUS\WsusContent\folder (or it should not be so if you are doing everything correctly)

The source directory for updates, is where you choose to save the downloaded update files into, when you perform the download within the ConfigMgr console wizard for each Software Update download/deployment. (or, wherever you told your ADR to download them into, if you use ADR)
