Exclude a server from monitoring
I have 4 DNS servers with SCOM Agent, after importing DNS MP all 4 DNS server was discovered. But I want to exclude one DNS server, I want to monitor this server but nothing related with DNS. How can I do this?Thank you, Micheli Kosky Senior Application Maintenance & Support Analyst

You could delete the SCOM Agent from that one server and remove the server from OpsMgr, but then the server will not be monitored anymore, and I don't think that's an option.
You have to override all the monitors of DNS Management Pack for that server. What you are doing is a kind of disabling the monitors for that one server. You can place that server in a seperate group and target your overrides against that group.

Yes I need to continue monitoring Windows Server for this computer, but I only want to stop to monitoring DNS on this computer. So remove agent is not a option for me. Maybe you second suggestion, to override all DNS monitors... but this is a hard method,
there is no other way (more easy way) to do this?Thank you, Micheli Kosky Senior Application Maintenance & Support Analyst

That is the easiest option - You would have to create an override for that or disable the rules for DNS for that specific Server. There are some other ways to do it, however this is the easiest one out of them.
Try looking at

But the easiest option is so hard, example: DNS have many many rules and monitors, I will need to override one by one, this wil be a pain :(

Hi Micheli,
You do not need to disable monitors and rules one-by-one. You need just disable discovery rule(DNS 200x Server Discovery) for tht server(rule that discover DNS server) and then run remove-disabledmonitoringobject powershell cmd-let to remove the instance
of DNS server from your OpsMgr. It will 'undiscover' this DNS server. And all dns-related modules will be unloaded from this box.

Hi,
I've done the same thing as Alexey suggested and it worked perfectly.

Hi,
You can try overriding the Discovery; here is an example:

Meanwhile, regarding how to configure overrides, I would share the following with you for your reference as well:

Hope this helps.
