Exclude Storage Server 2003 from Hard disk disk space alerts
Our Storage Server 2003 has 10 drives attached to it and most of these drives are full with VHD files. I'd like to disable the disk space monitor in SCE2010, so these drives don't show up in the Daily Health report as >90%. What's the best way to do this? Cheers!

Hi, Thank you for your post. I think you can try disabling the monitor with overrides. Please refer to: How to Disable a Monitor or Rule Using Overrides http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb309583.aspx How to Override a Monitor http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb309455.aspx Meanwhile, I would like to share the following with you for your reference: Overwhelmed by Alerts? http://blogs.technet.com/b/systemcenteressentials/archive/2010/04/30/overwhelmed-by-alerts.aspx Hope this helps. Thanks for the guides, did not work fully. This is what I have tried: 1. The alert comes in: The disk E: on computer xyz is running out of disk space. The values that exceeded the threshold are 0% free space and 948 free Mbytes. 2. Right click, Overrides / Disable monitor / For a group 3. Specify Storage Server 2003 R2 4. Are you sure? yeeees 5. Couple of minutes later the Alert disappears from Active Alerts 6. Click on Computers (on the left) / Computer groups (on the top) to get to the Comptuer Overview screen 7. Under Server Status / Health / click x disks more than 90% full 8. Report comes up and the server is still displayed under Hard disk: 90% I have a feeling that this Hard Disk report does not behave like "normal" MPs and Overrides do not take effect. The goal is to have no servers under Hard Disk 90% as this is what the Management Team looks at every morning and they want to see a nice 0. I really don't want to remove the Storage Server from SCE 2010. Anybody any suggestions?

Hi, Thank you for you update. Firstly, please ensure the monitor you override is the one which raises the alert. I think you can also try the following methods: 1. Locate and right click the monitor, select Overrides – Disable the Monitor - For a specific object of class:… and select the object you want to exclude. 2. Create a new group and add the the disk you want to exclude. Then locate and right click the monitor, select Overrides – Disable the Monitor - For a group…, specify this group. How to Create Groups in Operations Manager 2007 http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb309587.aspx Meanwhile, regarding class and group in override, I would like to share the following with you: Using Classes and Groups for Overrides http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff678173.aspx If the issue persists, please capture some screenshots about the alert details and the monitor you want to override. Hi, The disks still show up under >90% even after excluding them. 1. Created group "StorageWorks Disks", added drives and disabled the monitor: Authoring / Monitors / Windows Server 2003 Logical Disk / Logical Disk Free Space / right-click / Overrides / Disable the Monitor / for a group and specified the "StorageWorks Disks"group 2. Created 3 separate Overrides for 3 of the disks: Authoring / Monitors / Windows Server 2003 Logical Disk / Logical Disk Free Space / right-click / Overrides / Disable the Monitor / for a specific object of class These don't have any effect even after 10-15 mins. 1. Alerts don't show up under Active Alerts regaring Low Disk Space, I don't think they ever showed up in the first place. The only place I see them is when I click: Computer / Computer groups / Server Status / Hard disk: 7 disks more than 90% full 2. This is Storage Server 2003 and not Server 2003, not sure if my Override targets the right monitor. Is there anything out there specifically for Storage Server? I have uploaded 3 screenshots.

What's so special about the Harddisk health report that overrides don't work? Any ideas anyone please? Don't really want to log a call for this as it should be a 3 clicks solution. Is there another SCE2010 forum out there? Cheers
