If the main Exchange server (2010) is lost and a recovery is done to databases that are, say a week old, does the info in the OST (which is most up to date) propagate to the server, or does the old copy on the server update the OST?

hi,

the old copy on the server update the .ost file if the user allows to sync with exchange server.

to get the new mails user needs to export the mails from .ost to .pst and then from .pst user can import it into the mailbox database.

Hi,

We can configure Outlook to keep a local copy of our items on our comptuter in an Outlook data file.

This allows we to use Cached Exchange Mode or to work offline when a connection to the Exchange computer may not be possible or wanted.

The .ost file is synchronized with the Exchange computer when a connection is available.

As long as the data remains on the Exchange Server, we can re-create this .ost file on our computer without having to back up the .ost file.
