Excel Spread Sheets are corrupted on SharePoint Sites
Hi, Some Excel spread sheets on sharepoint sites are appeared to be corrupted suddenly... Those files were working fine yesterday... Error says "Unable to read, Do you want to recover" if I press YES, then another error shows up, '9E7E5672.xls' could not be found.. Check spelling of file name and verify the file location is correct".... Funny thing is that the excel sheet which I was trying to open has a different filename... I don't know how/where sharepoint is pulling "9E7E5672.xls" from.... We received many calls from users who use these sharepoint intranet sites by saying they can't open Excel files.... Word & other office documents seems to be fine... I am really not sure from where to start debugging? Please help me if anybody have see this issue before or any ideas will be much appreciated... Desktop OS : Windows XP SP2 Browser : IE6 / IE 7 (issue is not particular to one version of browser) SharePoint : MOSS 2007 Enterprise Edition (64 bit) SQL: 2005 (64 bit) Please reply if you need more information... Thanks and Regards, Charan

Hi Charan, What is the version of your Office server? If you don’t install Office Suite Service Pack 2007 SP2, try to install 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 2, then check the effect. In addition, I found a workaround for your reference: 1. Do not open the file via HTTP directly. Save the file on local computer and open it. or 2. Using Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system: 2-1. Covert file format form Excel 97-2003 (*.xls) to Excel 2007 (*.xlsx) . 2-2. Upload converted file (*.xlsx) to the web site. 2-3. Open the file from Web site. Hope this is helpful to you. Rock WangRock Wang MSFT
