Excel File is Saved to 'My Documents' Rather than SharePoint Directory
When a colleague of mine opens an Excel file from SharePoint and then tries to save it back to SharePoint, a window for My Documents opens. Can this be corrected by installing the MS Software Update for Web Folders (KB907306)? http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=17C36612-632E-4C04-9382-987622ED1D64&displaylang=en Note - my colleague is running SharePoint 2007 with MS Office 2003 Professional Edition - SP3. Thanks.

You could have a try, but could you please let me know the SharePoint Server 2007 evironment? Is it a standalone server? What is the operation system? Did the Office 2003 also install on the SharePoint Server?Sincerely, Lambert Qin Posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

Hi Lambert, Yes, it is a stand-alone server that is running Windows. I'm not aware of whether Office 2003 is installed on the server - I expect that it has the standard recommended setup. I should mention that what I've described about an Excel file being saved to My Documents is unique to one user. Other site users are presented with a SharePoint directory when they try to save an Excel file. Thanks.

Only one user had the issue indicated that it should be a client side issue. Please check the WebClient servie is Started on the user's macine. If the issue continues to persists, please try to inspect http traffic using Fiddler and you will find more information there.Sincerely, Lambert Qin Posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
