ExMerge Disconnected Mailbox to PST

Got around 300 disconnected mailboxes on Exchange 2007. Restored to a RSG. Exmerge does not seem to extract them into a PST.

Is it even possible?

In our case we do have the mailboxes but disconnected from the AD users.

Do not want to get into joining the mailboxes to the AD users and then PSTing them.

Advise Please.

Thanks

Check out Lucid8's DigiScope http://www.lucid8.com/product/digiscope.asp it can do this and more i.e. just take the database offline, make a copy and then open it with DigiScope so that you can Browse, Search, Export Mailboxes, Folders and Items to PST & MSG or if you need to do recovery you can recover data direct from ANY offline Exchange Database into ANY Production Exchange Server, even cross version i.e. 2003 --> 2007 --> 2013 etc.

Hi

If you do not want use third party tools, You have to do a lot of things

I found a thread have full steps of exporting, maybe you can have a look and compare.

You can follow josef maung's post to export

Not possible from a RSG

You will need to recover the mailboxes 1st, see: How to Recover a Mailbox by Using a Recovery Storage Group

Once you have the mailboxes recovered to a normal database, using temp accounts\mailboxes, you can then export the data to PST. See: How to Export Mailbox Data

Clients, like ExMerge, can't access data in a RSG, so it must be restored to a live mailbox. Once it's in a live mailbox you can use ExMerge or Export-Mailbox.

May i know whether if you have subsequent connected mailboxes for each and every disconnected mailbox which shows up under RSG?

- REsotre-mailbox will compare (Disconnected GUID) in RSG and (Connected Guid) in Production and will complete the operation and will fail if GUID's are not identical.

- when the guids are not identical then we must have to use Restore-Mailbox with -TargetFolder, -TargetMailbox switches

So, if we have mailboxes connected under production for every RSG mailbox then would need to redirect the restore to a folder for Eg: "Recovery" to production mailbox or few set of temporary mailboxes which you may create and can later use Export-Mailbox with -IncludeFolders Switch Speficified as "Recovery".

With Exmerge on Exchange 2003 SP2 Exporting PST from the disconnected mailboxes used to be possible but not any more with the latest versions (E2K7 and later).

Other option you may try is already specified by "Jason Sherry" but in case if we have a connected mailbox for the user in production then you may not be able to connect the disconnected mailbox to another user as they may share the same LegacyExchangeDN.

in case if you want the PST's for the mailboxes which are disconnected in production and if you want to use RSG to recover data then we can get the PSTs using Export-Mailbox with a 32-bit Exchange 2007 management tools machine.

Once you have the mailboxes recovered to a normal database, using temp accounts\mailboxes, you can then export the data to PST. See: How to Export Mailbox Data

If you go with a manual approach then firstly you need to recover mailboxes to normal database, create temp account and map with mailboxes and then export disconnected mailbox to pst. These are the right steps against disconnected mailboxes and need do lot of things. Seems no. of mailboxes is 300 so calling for an automated disconnected mailbox to pst export tool can minimize effort and time. Must ensures that the desired product can do direct recovery from any offline, disconnected, dismounted, and crashed Exchange Database and export mailboxes into pst format.

Have A Look:
