Error while trying to promoting MS to RMS
Hi,
We are trying to promote our MS to become an RMS.
We are following the
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc540401.aspx
(How to Promote a Management Server to a Root Management Server Role in Operations Manager 2007) document.
Once we reach the promotion step : ManagementServerConfigTool.exe PromoteRMS
We receive the following error:
2011-02-09T16:02:57.0209396-05:00 Error: Warning: Unable to trace instance space due to exception 'The type initializer for 'Microsoft.MOMv3.Setup.MOMv3ManagedCAs' threw an exception.'
2011-02-09T16:03:12.2241619-05:00 Always: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Mom.Common, Version=6.0.4900.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

We are running SCOM 2007 R2 CU3 on a Windows 2008 R2 box.

Hi,
Firstly, please ensure the “ManagementServerConfigTool.exe” is the one which comes with the SCOM 2007 R2 installation media.
May I know if the “ManagementServerConfigTool.exe” you ran was located in C:\Program Files\System Center Operations Manager 2007? If not,
please copy this file to that location and run the command again with an elevated command prompt.
Meanwhile, I would like to share the following with you for your reference:

Hope this helps.
Thanks.
