Hi, Some users are receiving the below error when updating a list item 'Catastrophic failure (Exception from HResult:0x8000FFF(E_UNEXPECTED))' Other Details - Error occurs only for 1 or 2 users. - I am able to edit the item and does not recieve any error. So under what circumstance does this error comes, does this have to do anything about the OS they(users who recieved errors) are using ?? Thanks in Advance ...

Have you checked your ULS logs (12-hive/logs)?If there is not enough info there, try setting a higher level of logging for a moment when those users try to edit (to verbose f.e.) and check again.The error you are pasting is very general and the questions you ask us (what circumstances, OS) is something we might ask to you instead :).Regards,JeroenMy blog on WSS / MOSS development is found at http://jebass.blogspot.com

I read a blog in which a person received the same error. The source of the error for him turns out to be the schema.xml. Please check out the link.http://wss.crandalls.net/blog/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=11So I have started to check my shcema.xml based on the above suggestion and will update soon if I am able to do the fix.
