We upgraded Primary site to SCCM 2010 R2 SP1.

While upgrading the secondary site we get error:

Any pointers?

How did you launch the upgrade process ? Using the console or the same .exe as your Primary site ?

Secondary site must be upgraded from the console.

In your logs :

Existing Configuration Manager server components on site server;    Error;    A site server or site system role is already installed on the computer selected for site server installation. Remove the site or site system role from the computer, or select another computer for site server installation.

ERROR: Failed to connect to SQL Server database.

I deleted the SMS reg key and removed SQL Express and had the install reinstall SQLExpress. This fixed the issue.
