Hi,Try to run the BIDS under Administrator account. By default, Windows 7 uses adminitrator account for SQL installation and local account for running BIDS. By default, Reporting Services would grant local administrator as SQL admin, but your local account wouldn't. So you haven't privilege to depoly the reports.Thanks.Yao Jie Tang -Microsoft Online Community

Go to All Programs -> Microsoft Sql server 2008 -> Micrsoft BIDS Right Click and Run it as Administrator. and see if it works.~~ Mark it as Answer if you find it correct~~

Hi AllI ran in to this one last month. It was a real easy one to fix :)1) You must run reporting services under the LOCAL SYSTEM account.THEN2) Run MSCONFIG from the Programs / RUN and go to tools. You must set the UAC control to DISABLED. The same goes for Vista Ultimate. :)The problem is that there really is no true 'Administrator' account and should you try to deploy it without LOCAL SYSTEM privileges, you will be told that you do not have adequate privileges(from the Visual Studio side). Now with LOCALSYSTEM privs you can deploy ( and this has the equivalent rights as "Administrator") BUT here is the kicker, when you try to logon to the report server you can normally only log on as yourself and you will find that although Visual Studio did deploy the solution to the server you CANNOT see the reports AND THAT IS BECAUSE only the administrator has the rights to access the reports. So....Once you have done this, please let me know how you fared.sincerest regards Steve Simonnjm870t@hotmail.com or ssimon@statestreet.com

I am having the same problem with Windows 7 HP and SQL 2008 DE SP1, accessing the local report services url with IE 8 (x64). I have re-run the permissions on the report server directory for the admin account (Machine\user) as full control. I have adjusted the BIDS executable to run as administrator. I have adjusted IE to allow the machine name URL (HTTP://machinename) as a trusted site. Nothing works. I have also found no straight forward explanation of the problem and no straight forward configuration solution. I have looked through 50 posts on a number of sites and there is no clear answer - very frustrating to say the least.

check whether the user under which your RS is running have sufficient rights/access. Try giving admin access to the user and check it!.Regards, KarthikShanth. "Mark as Answer" if this helps you!
