Error opening Adobe Presenter with PowerPoint
We are using SharePoint 2007 and want to store training content, PowerPoint documents that have Adobe Presenter or Articulate plug ins. When I open one of the PowerPoint documents and then attempt to click on the presenter menu and click on SLide Properties, I get the following error: "Adobe Presenter is unable to open he narration in this presentation. The navigation file for this presentation may be in use by another program or user, or it may be read only. Try saving the presentation to a new file or location with File/Save As." I have tried the suggestion in the error message and the behavior was not changed. Could this be a SharePoint permissions issue? I have posted a question on the Adobe Presenter forum with no suggestions that work.

This "The navigation file for this presentation may be in use by another program or user" gives me the impression that in order to correctly open this kind of file you need to have two (or more) files stored in the same location. When opening a file from a SharePoint document library you are however only opening a single file completely by itself (in this case the PowerPoint file). Mike, just to confirm there are 5 files in the directory...

I don't think that this helps. When you open a single file from a document library, that is all SP is aware of. The exception seems to be with the folder function. If you have say an htm file in the document library, it's internal links can point to files that are located in a folder of that document library. (Where you need to be careful how you define the links) My impression is that that only applies to the folders though (and not to the document library level) and that it (the folder solution) was included in WSS 2.0 to solve a common problem in STS.FAQ sites: (SP 2010) http://wssv4faq.mindsharp.com; (v3) http://wssv3faq.mindsharp.com and (WSS 2.0) http://wssv2faq.mindsharp.com Complete Book Lists (incl. foreign language) on each site.

I saw in another forum thread that you could open Access files (where there is the same problem of more than one file being needed) provided you opened the files in Explorer View. This is logical because when in Explorer View you are in effect opening the file when in the physical directory (where you have your five files). This would certainly be worth a try. Let us know ?
