very likely you want to net stop FIMPasswordReset & net start FIMPasswordReset on the client machine i strongly suggest you first try registration/reset without the portal, make sure SSPR is working first, then try it from portal i.e. C:\Windows\System32\MsPwdRegistration.exe -all or reset from the logon screenThe FIM Password Reset Blog http://blogs.technet.com/aho/

Let's forget about portal initialized registration/reset at this moment. Let's focus on registration through MsPwdRegistration.exe I would need you to enable client side tracing by notepad C:\Program Files\Microsoft Forefront Identity Manager\2010\Password Reset Client Service\PwdMgmtProxy.exe.config Uncomment that section change "Warning" and "Error" to "Verbose" create C:\Logs and grant authenticated users full access to that folder restart FIMPasswordReset service MsPwdRegistration.exe -all log file should be generated I would first check if you spot anything interesting from the event log (or the log file if you have SvcTraceViewer.exe - a WCF trace viewer)The FIM Password Reset Blog http://blogs.technet.com/aho/
