Error migrating files into sharepoint
We are trying to move a large number of files from a file share into WSS 3.0 document library via explorer view. We keep getting hung up with unexplainable errors such as the followung: "An unexpected error is keeping you from moving the folder. If you continue to receive this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this problem. Error 0x80070091: The directory is not empty." Any idea what is to blame with this? I realize that files\folders with invalid characters can cause these kinds of errors, but this isn't the case here. For example we have a folder simply called "Transfers" that won't move. Suggestions welcomed! Thanks

Try to only copy. It seems this error is happening when the system is trying to delete the source.

Hi ME_BJS, First, here’s a quick overview of the steps most likely to help: •Make sure you have enough permission on the source share folder and target document library, especially the write permission. •Check whether a quota is defined on the site collection, and if the quota has been exceeded. If so, increase the quota limit. •Check the maximum file upload size limit. The default maximum file size for uploads to SharePoint is set at 50MB. Try increasing this value if you are uploading large files. •Check that you are not attempting to upload file types which are listed on the blocked file extensions list (such as .mdb, .exe). If this is required, you can remove the file types from the blocked extensions list to enable an upload. •Increase the paging file size for the server to at least 1 gigabyte (GB). •Increase the IIS timeout settings to 65,000 Moreover, Out of the box Windows SharePoint Services has a “multiple file upload” dialog through the browser, which both allow file transfer from NTFS file shares. You can try this method, then check the effect. Note: There is a default maximum file size allowed for this type of transfer of 50MB per file, but this is a configurable setting at the virtual server level. The files do appear to be copied, and for some reason it's just failing to delete the source after the move. What has me a bit paranoid is that when I do a crc check between the source files and the ones in sharepoint. They are different. They don't appear to be corrupt or anything, but there is too many for me to confirm for all of them. I realize this may just be do to Sharepoint adding metadata to the files, but can someone confirm this?

•Check that you are not attempting to upload file types which are listed on the blocked file extensions list (such as .mdb, .exe). If this is required, you can remove the file types from the blocked extensions list to enable an upload. That was my problem, thanks.Regards, Mike DePouw
