I have a computer that is failing to install an office 2013 update KB2881035 and I keep getting the error seen in WindowsUpdate.log WARNING: First failure for update {B5BB6027-36C1-4CD4-AF39-66D8A36E249E}, transaction error = 0x8024200b, MSI result = 0x80070643, MSI action = CostInitialize

This is a windows 8.1 machine which is has Spanish set as the language (not sure that matters). I have verified that the needed services are running so I am not sure what else it could be? Any ideas? TIA

The installation of patches is handled by the OS / windows update client agent. Examine eventlog or any related log in %windir%\logs.

It is a generic failure of Windows Installer.

Check UpdatesDeployment.log and UpdatesHandler.log.

Since the error occur on only one computer, you may also try to install this update manually. If the error still occur, try to repair office.
