Stop the IIS service on the Index server, kill the mssearch.exe processes in the Index servers task manager, restart the server and then reset the crawl. It should clear the gatherer process. Regards John Timney

Hi, Please check whether the Windows SharePoint Search Services has correct permissions with users of the service. If not, change the permission and reconfigure Windows SharePoint Search Service. After that check the effect. For more information about Office SharePoint Server Security Account Requirements, please refer to (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=92883&clcid=0x409). Hope this helps. Rock WangRock Wang MSFT
