Is there a Publishing Feature dependency when creating a site using the OOTB Team Site template?After our recent SP 2 upgrade, we are seeing the following error when creating a Team Site:The Office SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure feature must be activated at the site collection level before the Publishing feature can be activated. On this particular Site Collection, I dont want the Publishing Feature turned on at any level, but still need to be able to create a site using the Team Site template, and dont recall having this problem before.MOSS 2007 Server 2008

I have tried to Activate and then Deactivate at the site collection level. No problems with that. When I tried again, it returned the same error.Then I activated it, again at the site collection level. Tried again, no error. Seems like the simple solution then would be to activate it, and leave it be. However I intentionally need to keep it deactivated.It just seems that this template should not need the publishing feature, but for whatever reason it suddenly wants it. Don't know why, and did not seem to be a problem before our SP 2 upgrade.

Have your templates been "branded" in house or by a contractor? If it is a Team Site template created with "Save Site as Template" then it's most likely in the "Custom" tab on the site creation page, and if there could be from a team site created using publishing features.Mike Smith TechTrainingNotes.blogspot.com
