Hi.. Im new to sharepoint and am in the process of writing a site. When I try to add a webpart an error comes up saying "Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at microsoft.sharepoint.webpartpages.VirtualServerWebPartDataProvider.get_VirtualRootPath()...." That is the beginning of the error, there is more lines underneath. I did create this site on another tcp port (79) instead of using the default port 80 created Website. Has anyone any ideas about a fix for this error ? Thanks Jason

Is the site is working fine without webpart? If its fine, then its problem with the webpart.. Is it possible to share the webpart code?

Hi Jason, I did create this site on another tcp port (79) instead of using the default port 80 created Website. Have you assigned any ip address for the site in the IIS? in that case try changing the ip address for the site to "ALL UNASSIGNED" in IIS and then check once again. Thanks, Raj
