If Kent's suggestion doesn't get you there, try the download on a client system. I've had a couple of weird issues involving client's proxy server and security where we couldn't actually get the pre-reqs downloaded on the site server itself but had no issues on a client system. You can then just copy the files over to the site server and point it at the directory.Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | http://blogs.catapultsystems.com/jsandys/default.aspx | Twitter @JasonSandys

An download failed/incorrect proxy setting may cause similar issue. Please check configmgrsetup.log to find out why the issue happen. Hope it helps.

Gents, I had the same issue on my Windows Server 2008 R2 machine. After I ran the command '<CDROM>\SMSSETUP\BIN\I386\SETUP.exe /download c:\req', I was able to download the 86 files. Have a nice day! Best Regards, Met vriendelijke groeten, Frank Keunen Microsoft IT Consultant

Ran into the same problem today. Seems to be the old windowsupdateagentXXX.exe problem. I downloaded those manually, and the remaining 86 files worked as supposed.Morten

Solution: Go into Tools > Internet Options. On the Security tab, select Internet and change your security level to Medium. That will allow downloading of those files. This seems to be specific to Server 2003. If you do this, make sure you change the security level back to its previous state. Also, it's probably not a good idea to do any other surfing/downloading while you've lowered the protection level. Best of luck!

Eventually downloaded all 89 files. (Home lab)
