Er, how do I install, enable, configure, run, invoke Reporting Services ?
MS SS 2008 R2 has been installed on my desktop with Management Studio, Configuration Tools under which is Reporting Services Configuration Manager etc, but probably not everything I need ...
... including brain cells.
Reporting Services . Getting Started . Initial Installation .
Considerations for Installing Reporting Services . ... ?
Unfortunately I'm an Oracle DBA and this is all new to me ...
Do I need a re-installation of MS SS 2008 R2 ?

Not at all Edward, thank you VERY much. I've been somewhat distracted by my Oracle DBA day job!
I de-installed what I had and installed MSSS2K8 Developer with Reporting Services
I bought a book! MSSS2K8 RS
I'm up to page 89, have published a report, got a colleague to logon remotely, great.
However under
http://localhost/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx?ViewMode=Detail
where the book says I should see Contents and Properties tabs, there are none. Obviously I have the Contents alone.
I Googled and came up with
Home Properties Tab NOT Visible

but nothing applies.
Any idiot proof directions would be greatly appreciated.

Ah HA! Hopefully the answer is here:

In Reporting Services 2005 and 2008, the Report Manager interface includes the Contents and Properties tab. We can click the Properties tab and then assign an item-level role for users, and we can also click the Contents tab to view folder items.
However, in Reporting Services 2008R2, the Report Manager interface is designed in a new style and provides a better user experience. We can click the Folder Settings button on the toolbar instead of click the Properties tab to assign
an item-level role for users. The most dramatic change for Report Manager is the updated color scheme and layout, which provides easier navigation to manage report properties and report server items.
