Email notifications - Show approver/rejecter in body text
Hi, One of our customers has asked to show the displayname of the approver/rejecter of a specific request in a notification mail to be sent to requestor. Since a user mostly has more than one person that can approve/reject his requests, that user doesn't always know who was in fact the one that approved/rejected. Is there a way to show this info in the email notifications sent? FIM email templates in WFWs are used; no Outlook add-ins have been configured. Thanks for your help, H.

You'd need to write a custom activity to enumberate the approval and approval response resources to get that information then put it in an WorkflowData variable to pass to the email template.Eric

Thanks Eric, however was expecting that there would be some out-of-the-box functionality within FIM 2010 which we could leverage to fullfull this demand rather then having to revert to our dev team for this. That is of course assuming that "writing a custom activity" involves writing custom code(VS)? H.

FIM R2 has some possibilities (might not answer all your requirements), as it allows for inclusion of data from within Workflows: - ApprovalCompletedBy - ApprovalFinalStatus - Reason - Cause

Hi S, Based on your info, have checked the release notes for R2 and indeed the "ApprovalCompletedBy" looks very promising: "If Approved, this will provide the list of names involved in approving the Request. If Rejected, this will provide the name who rejected the Request." Assumed this will be an additional reason for considering upgrading to R2. Thanks, H.
