You can try saving the library in production as a template and then uploading that list template in your test environment. The steps below outline the process you'll need to follow to give that a try: Open the list in the Production site, click its Settings button in the list's menu bar, and open the List Settings Under Permissions and Management click the “Save list as template” link Enter a name for the file that the list will be exported to and a name for the template that will display when creating the new list (and note both values). Make sure that the “Include Content” checkbox is checked if you want to include content, or unchecked if you don't. You should see a new page stating “Operation Completed Successfully” as well as a link to the “list template gallery”. Click that link. Your newly created export should show in the List Template Gallery with the file name you chose in Step 4 and a “!NEW” tag. Right click on the link for its name and select “Save Target As…” from the menu to download the .STP file locally. In the test farm, open the top-level site collection you want to import the list to (if you want to put the list in a subsite, you still need to go to the top-level site collection) and open its Site Settings . NOTE: if this list is staying in the same site collection, you can skip to Step 9. In the Galleries section of the Site Settings page, click the “List templates” link to open that gallery. Click the “Upload” button in the orange bar and add the new list template to the gallery for that site collection Now open the Create List dialog in the location within the site collection that you want to add the list to Your list should show up in the Custom Lists column, with the template name you set in Step 3. Click its link to select it. Configure it with the desired settings and create the list. The list should now be available in the new site and populated with the original content if you chose to include it.
