Effective Configuration Viewer and report for SCOM R2
Hi Sadly not - there are a variety of tools but none will give really detailed information regarding overrides \ thresholds etc: 1) Operations Manager console If you look in the monitoring view, operations manager, agent, agent health state dashboard. Select your server under Agent State and there is a task \ action on the right of the screen to show running rules and monitors for the health service. 2) Effective Configuration Viewer This doesn't seem to bring back all information on R2. 3) MPViewer This outputs the contents of a Management Pack but I don't think it provides full details on thresholds and certainly not for overrides: http://blogs.technet.com/b/kevinholman/archive/2008/07/02/mpviewer-1-7-released.aspx 4) Silect Software - http://www.silect.com/products/mp-studio/agent-explorer Cheers Graham View OpsMgr tips and tricks at http://systemcentersolutions.wordpress.com/

Thanks Graham for the Quick response. Option 1, looks to give me most i need, except the values... Option 3, don’t have the rules/monitors per system, so no help. Is there a SQL query, we can run to get the details? I even tired the "Workflow Analyzer", it got crashed... Excepting something form MS as a report, which will be useful for everyone... Hope everyone have this requirement. I also placed this on connect site as feature request, but not sure if we get it.

Sadly not - this is a much requested feature and I'd hope for improvements in the future. But at present there is no single all encompassing way of achieving this. It is a pain both internally within organisations (when someone asks the basic question of - "what am I monitoring?") and also for anyone involved in pre-sales where the is no single source of information on what each MP monitors (MP Viewer is probably best in this case and the output of this is posted on OpsManJam). In your specific case, powershell is more effective than SQL (due to the way the informaiton is stored within the database) but even that can't get us all the answers. Option 1 (I think) directly leverages the OpsMgr SDK and that still falls short. Sorry I can't be of more assistance. If you do a google search you'll see how much people want this functionality and how we are all waiting ;-( Cheers GrahamView OpsMgr tips and tricks at http://systemcentersolutions.wordpress.com/

Is there a way we can get a report on all rules/monitores that run aganist a server/group. Its critical the app owners are asking what is configured for monitoring for a server/group of server. Please let me know if we can get the same with PS or with SQL query. Thanks in advance. - Manickam.

Hi Yes - you'll need to add the request. I'm sure MSFT know. A lot of us are shouting for the same thing. In theory, the feedback site allows MSFT to see how popular a request is by tracking votes. Cheers GrahamView OpsMgr tips and tricks at http://systemcentersolutions.wordpress.com/

I tried to increment the counter and it's been clocking for an hour, so I assume the number won't get updated.

Do we need to go to the MS feedback site and add this to the list of things that are needed? I would hope they would know this but there are so many obvious things missing from this product that I wonder at that teams ability to perceive needs and deliver results.
