Editing Access on Sub Folder with Broken Inheritance
Hello, I have broken inheritance on a sub folder in a document library, and now wish to add a number of other users to have access to this folder. Is there anyway to add further users as the manage permissions option has disappeared. Or is there at least a way to inherit permissions again on a sub folder level so i can break the inheritance again? Thanks very much Joe

Hi there, Unless I'm missing something here, if the Manage Permissions option has disappeared for a folder it will be because you do not have permission rights to modify the permissions on that folder - and if you have removed the Site Owners group from the folder you will need the Site Collection Administrator to help you. Therefore, you need to get your Site Collection Administrator for the site to grant you full control access to the folder so you can set the permissions accordingly. Then, assuming you have ownership rights to the document library all you need to do is open the document library so you can see the folder, click on the drop down and select Manage Permissions. Hope this helps Cheers Geoff

Geoff! You are a GENIUS! I have been wracking my brains with this for ages, and couldnt understand why no one else was asking about the same problem. Even the techy team at work didnt know why it was doing this. I accidently deleted the owners group a while ago and the administrator created an owners group again with me in. Thanks very very much :-D

Is the Site collection Administrator something other than the site owner? I am in a similar situation as Joe. While consolodating "owner" groups in a site hierarchi I forgot to add the new group to a child before deleting the old one (exactly the sort of problem I am trying to avoid in the future by consolodating the groups). the objects I have lost access to are a site and a workspace. I am the owner of their parent site and also its parent site, Is there anything I can do to restore Full Controll access? Barring that, is there any way that I can delete the two items so I can re-create them. Jacob
