I have a list in one section with a tool that has an associated tab.

I put the edit button as a column that shows up on the list but does not show up on the tab.

Possible solution.  List was showing Edit as column but I checked in this list.  I also reset on web maintenance

I dont very clear about the tab and the tool you refer to. I could appreciate it if you could provide some details or screenshots.

I could explain to you why edit button shows up in lists. In fact, you displayed a column called Edit column in your current view. The value of the column are Edit buttons.

Please check list ribbonModify ViewColumns sectionthe checkbox of the Edit column.
