EML or SML for an IIS management pack.
EML or SML for an IIS management pack? Can someone list what apps require an Enterprise Management License? MS is so unclear!

Hi If you are unsure then the best person to ask is your MSFT TAM and to get the answer in writing. For applications it is very clear - you will need an EML. IIS, SQL, AD, Exchange etc are clearly EMLs. Hardware monitoring is an SML. Windows OS is an SML. Services such as DNS and DHCP are also SMLs (see notes at bottom of following url): http://www.microsoft.com/systemcenter/en/us/operations-manager/om-pricing-licensing.aspx Cheers Graham View OpsMgr tips and tricks at http://systemcentersolutions.wordpress.com/

I assume this is not the way to go in all occasions, but scom actually has a report for licenses, but of course you would have installed it already and have installed all agents already (and imported the management packs). Its in reporting - microsoft generic report library - licenses. it lists the amount of Standard and Enterprise licenses for agents you should have and split between virtual and physical. so this is more of a check afterwards or if you have certain enterprise contracts that ask you to count lateron when you have deployed already and give MS the correct number.Bob Cornelissen - BICTT (My BICTT Blog)

The licence report does not function properly and is not useful for calculating the EML/SML split. A license management solution is separately available - this is called MAP. The license management report is officially deprecated and will go away in a future version of the product.Microsoft Corporation
