EMET 4.0 default install breaks IE 10...

Installed EMET 4.0 over EMET 4.0 Beta, on Windows 7 64-bit professional with the latest security patches applied, electing not to keep the existing configuration. The update did go well and everything seems to be working, until IE 10 throws this error:

Faulting application name: IEXPLORE.EXE, version: 10.0.9200.16611, time stamp: 0x5191e7aa
Faulting module name: CRYPT32.dll, version: 6.1.7601.18151, time stamp: 0x5190709d

Faulting module path: C:\Windows\syswow64\CRYPT32.dll
Report Id: 3af1c98c-d836-11e2-81c2-902b345adcb5

The result is that IE is unable to load any websites. Firefox and Opera, also protected by EMET 4.0, have no issues loading web pages.

Is there an easy fix for IE10 prior to removing EMET from this system?

TIA...

I put EMET V4.0.4913.26122 on to my Windows 8 Pro 64-bit machine. I had installed EMET 3.5 Tech Preview and it was working fine. I uninstalled 3.5, installed V4, accepted the default application settings.

Then, everything protected by EMET crashed and would not start. Internet Explorer 10, Adobe Acrobat V11, all Office applications, Skype for Desktop V6.5 and some Lenovo tools.

Is there an easy fix?   It does not look like it. I uninstalled V4, restarted and installed V3.5 again and put in my own applications (as they were at the start).  All is well with V3.5

I think I may have fixed this.

I uninstalled EMET completely. I restarted, and then I ensured most applications were running properly. I ensured that the necessary Windows Update KB2790907 was installed (it had been).

I restarted and installed EMET V4. This time I did NOT select default. I used the applications that had been protected under EMET V3.5

This time EMET seems to be working.

It will be easier now to add outward facing applications one at a time and determine how they react.
