E-Mail With SharePoint
Hello all, I want to add e-mail functionality for my sharepoint. I have installed WSS 3.0. I upgraded it to sharepoint.I ran into some problems but its fine now. I want to be able to use e-mail with my install. How do I get that up as quickly as possible? It is a server 2003 sp2, sharepoint service pack 2, a test machine for my practice but i need to make connections to it from othe rmachines as well.

Hi, Download Exchange Server from Microsoft's download center. I will recommend 2003 version for simplicity http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=535bef85-3096-45f8-aa43-60f1f58b3c40&displaylang=en If you can handle it, you can go for 2007 edition http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=444c259e-605f-4a82-96d5-a2f448c9d4ff&displaylang=en Or maybe you want the waoh! effect then go for the 2010 version and they provide a virtual hard disk version ready to run, if it doesn't fit in your environment then convert it for your VM (but I think VM supports vhd direct) http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/2010/en/us/try-it.aspx You have to make an admin decision though considering resource usage of Win2k3, SQL 2005, Exchange 2003 or Win2k8, SQL 2008, Exchange 2007/2010.You've only got one life; help as many people as you can, and enjoy it while it lasts.
