During automated migration of Win XP to Win 7 using Altiris Ghost, system takes image but does not take defined IP address and domain

Hi,

During automated deployment of Win 7 over Win xp machines using Altiris 6.9 DS ghost images, we are facing the following issue.

Post deployment, the target machine takes the Win 7 image.

However, the machine does not take defined IP address and domain.

This test setup is in a DHCP enviornment. Despite disabling DHCP and associated services, post deployment the machine starts DHCP services and take a valid IP address.

The target enviornment is not DHCP. All machines have static IP addresses.

Requesting guidance on this issue. All help is appreciated.

Regards

Hi IS,

Have you consulted with the manufacturer of the "Altiris ghost"?

As a workaround, we can use DHCP reservation.

To configure DHCP reservation, please refer to the link below:

Hello Steven/Others,

Appreciate the responses. My target enviornment is non-DHCP.

I was able to test one desktop in a non-DHCP enviornment and the image deployment was successful - including taking of defined IP etc. I shall attempt this on another desktop for confirming similar result.

However, when i tried deployment for a POS machine in a non-DHCP enviornement, the deployment failed.

Any insights on the POS front? All inputs are appreciated.

Regards
