Does WSUS offer reporting functionality?

Management asked me to create weekly reports of client side patching. So I am wondering if WSUS have any form of reporting functionality?

Yes definitely, that's one of the main functions of WSUS, after dishing out updates to clients of course.

See http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd939891(v=ws.10).aspx for details of what reports are available within WSUS and how to produce them, and also http://blogs.technet.com/b/wsus/archive/2008/06/20/baseline-compliance-report-using-public-wsus-views.aspx which gives an example of other things you can do to extend that functionality, which could be useful if you're after something more specific.

Great!

Going to create a report based on a group of selected patches showing each group distribution per site and progress comparison!!!

Strange, I can't see any option to create a selective progress result based on a chosen batch of approved patches deployed to a particular group of machines.

I thought WSUS had reporting function? All I see is a generic patch distribution summary based on either machine, product or patch.

Hi,

If you use SCE, please refer to the following:

How to View Microsoft Critical and Security Update Status Reports in Essentials

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff603540.aspx

How to View the Status of a Deployed Update in Essentials

Thanks.

Not at the moment. We are in progress of deploying it. Using WSUS at the moment.

Still can't find reporting functionality. Very strange.

I select the group of patches I approved last week and try to generate report for total install for that group, but there is no option for that...
