Does FIM 2010 have any support for Bulk/Batch Provisioning?
Does anyone know if there is a way (API or otherwise) to do bulk provisioning of users with FIM? We need a way to bulk load 1000 employees. thanks

The PowerShell configuration migration cmdlets can be used to do this. There are samples in the wiki. The biggest issue right now is that they do not support the import of DateTime attributes but it is pretty easy to workaround that by using the cmdlets on CodePlex.CraigMartin Edgile, Inc. http://identitytrench.com

The configuration migration cmdlets for FIM are actually well documented in TechNet: Windows PowerShellTools for FIM 2010 CraigMartin – Edgile, Inc. – http://identitytrench.com

Paolo Tedesco has a pretty good write up that we've used and modified to allow for bulk changes of attributes. With a minimum amount of tweaking you could get that to work for bulk importing user objects into the FIM DB. https://espace.cern.ch/idm/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=32

Hi Roy, the other option would be to use the FIM Synchronization Service & a file MA. You could have a comma-separated value file that contains details of your users. Cheers, MMS_guruIdentity & Metadirectory, Hewlett-Packard UK

If you're looking at an easy way to get users INTO the FIM Portal, then for sure a file MA would be the way to go, particularly for a one-off bulk load. If you're looking to provision them from there into another system, just ensure when the users export to the FIM Portal from the Metaverse, that they meet criteria for entry into a set which triggers provisioning. - Ross Currie
