Does DPM 2012 support variable block size when backup to tapes

When I did backup job to tapes with DPM 2012, I noticed that DPM uses fixed block size.

So I was wondering, does DPM support variable block size instead of fixed block size when backup to tapes?

Thanks

Hi,

DPM always prefers to set the block size to 64K (65536 bytes) for new tape backups. If the tape drive does not support 64K block size, we write with Max supported block size of tape drive.  This is not a DPM configurable parameter.

Hi, Mike.

Is there any way to go over 64k size?

We have HP StoreOnce Devices and HP just advised to use 256 or even 512 when writing to Virtual Tape Libraries?

Hi,

This is not a configurable option - as noted earlier, DPM sets the block size at backup time to 65536 or lower if the drive does not support 65536.  There is no way to increase the block size.
