Document set with One Note template in it

Hi,

I'm trying to create a document set with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and One Note templates in it.

I add the appropriate Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files to the set and opted for the "Open Notebook.onetoc2" file as the template file for One Note.

When a new document set is created the One Note file opens, complaining about missing sections (not surprising) and appear to allow me work in it, however it won't allow me to sync.  It returns "We're sorry, something went wrong during sync. We'll try again later. (Error code: 0xE402005F)"

Further investigate showed I needed the entire folder, however I've no idea how I would add that to a document set.

So has anyone been able to include a One Note template as part of a document set and (if so) how did you do it?

Thanks

David

Hi,

According to your description, my understanding is that you are unable to create OneNote in document set.

Before you create an OneNote content type in SharePoint 2013, you need to create a blank OneNote file and save it to local machine. There will be a folder with two files, which are New Section 1 and Open Notebook. When you create a new OneNote content type in SharePoint 2013 and upload document template, please choose New Section instead of Open Notebook. Then test whether the issue occurs.

Hi Dean,

Thanks for the suggestion however.

It created a One-Note file in the document set but when you tried to open it, it returned : "We couldn't open this section".

Any other ideas?

Thanks

Hi David,

I know the issue is that there is a massage We couldnt open this section when you open the OneNote file created in the document set.

How did you create an OneNote content type in SharePoint 2013?

I have tested in my environment. I have created a blank OneNote file and save it to local machine. There will be a folder with two files, which are New Section 1.one and Open Notebook .onetoc2. If I uploaded the Open NoteBook .onetoc2 to the OneNote content type as template, the massage We couldnt open this section would occur when I opened the OneNote file created in the library, which is the same as you.

In order to resolve the issue, you need to upload New Section 1.one file instead of Open Notebook .onetoc2 to OneNote content type as template.

Feel freely to reply if there is any update.

Thanks,

Dean Wang
