Document library versioning and Mail alerts
Hi, In a document library which is versioned for both major and minor version numbers, is it possible to send out alerts *only* if the major number changes? Currently, any change in the document will send an alret mail to the subscribers. Idea is to add a document as a minor version (draft) in the document library, develop it over time and then finally move it to a major version. At that time, subscribers should get the mail and not for every minor version (draft) change/update of the document. Thanks Sandy

The reason your subscribers are getting alerts on minor version changes is because they have MEMBER or CONTRIBUTOR rights. If your subscribers only had VISITOR or VIEWER rights, they would only be notified upon Major version changes. If it's not an option to lower their rights, you can always use Content Approval and then designate DESIGNERS as the approvers. I trust that answers your question...
