Document libraries - cannot update field values
This may be difficult to explan as seems so simple and is standard functions that don't seem to be playing ball.... For sme reason on certain documents in a couple of my libraries I cannot update any values in 'normal' or datasheet vews apart from the name field. It lets me set the values but then on save they simply revert to blank or previous value. This must be me missing something obvious - if so please let me know else I will explain in more detail. Seems ok on most PDFs. Word docs seems to be main problem. And I am fairly sure it hasn't always been like this.

I assue, some hidden metadata values are causing issues to update the properites in Word documents. This often occurs if you upload a docuement from a different SharePoint site collection. Try to remove the hidden properties and update the new values. To fix this, remove these hidden metadata with the Document Inspector: Open the Word 2007 document and click the Office 2007 button, located on the top-left of the window. Choose Prepare –> Inspect Document, which will start the Document Inspector. Check the box Document Properties and Personal Information, which will inspect hidden metadata saved with the document. Choose Inspect. Choose Remove All. This will remove all Document server properties and Content type information saved with the Word document. Aferwards, you’ll be able to modify the document properties in SharePoint document libary. Thanks,Veera Reddy Kolan SharePoint Consultant Blog:
