Document Versioning - Concurrent changes?
I am fairly new to sharepoint so please be gentle with me :) I have a Document Library with versioning switched on. This would work pretty well for my needs if it werent for the fact that I want more than one person to be able to make changes to a document at any one time and possibly merge the changes later. Is there a way of doing this on Sharepoint? A simple example would be that if I had ProgramSpec.doc (V1.0) in my library which represented the design of a particular "live/production" progam. Project A comes along in April and changes the spec and then Project B comes along in May with changes on top of Project A. Both of these projects are to be implemented in June and I dont want the final ProgramSpec.doc (V2.0) to be published/approved until that point and I want it to include both sets of changes. Clear as mud I know (!) but I can provide more info if required....

There is no way to natively do that in SharePoint. You would need a third party product that can trigger document merges etc. The one I've always had the greatest experience with is Colligo Contributor. Start here: http://colligo.com/products/sharepoint/contributor_pro.asp I trust that answers your question... Thanks C http://www.cjvandyk.com/blog
