Document Library web part gives 'Access Denied' to Read users
I have a MOSS 2007 site that has a document library web part for Shared Documents on it. When someone with Read permission accesses the site, they are able to view all the documents and folders on the web part. However, when they click on any folder in the web part, they receive 'Error: Access Denied. You are currently logged in as: DOMAIN\USER. Sign in as a different user. Request access' The wild thing is: if the user accesses Shared Documents directly, they are able to drill down without issue. Access denied only occurs when Read attempts to drill down via the web part. The document library itself inherits permission from the site. The Read permission level is 100% OOTB. If I change the user permission level to Contribute, they are able to drill down via the web part. Anyone see this before? I'm perplexed.

In case anyone is interested, I have just found resolution to this odd issue. It appears that this could be a bug. I am going to pursue the bug report avenue. Here is how you reproduce the issue: On a site, populate a document library with a folder. The document library should inherit from the site. Add the document library as a web part on the site's home page. Add another web part like Links or Annoucements to the site home page. Modify the Links or Announcements web part and set the toolbar to Full Toolbar. Save the changes. Add a user to the site with Read. When the user logs into the home page and clicks on the folder in the document library's web part, the user will get Access Denied. However, by going directly to the document library, the user should not have any issues drilling down. To fix this, edit the Links or Announcements web part again, changing the toolbar to None. Save the change. Have the Read user log back into the site's home page and click on the folder for the document library again. The user will now be able to drill down into the document library using the web part.
