Document IDs are only generated for document sets but not for the documents in them - default?

Hi everyone,

i could not find anything (or did not use the right search terms) about this issue.

I had a site collection with documents and document set in it. After enabling the feature all document sets and documents got an ID.

New documents did not get an ID from then on. Only document sets. Is this default behavior?

Best regards

Stephan

Hi Stephan G,

According to your description, the existing documents got an ID while the new documents couldnt get an ID, but the new document sets could get.

I have tested for many times. However, my documents and document sets could get an ID normally.

I wonder if the related timer jobs ran after you created your documents.

If you want to get the ID immediately, you could try the steps below

1. Open the Central Administration.

2. Click monitoring, then click review job definitions.

3. You could find two jobs called Document ID assignment job and Document ID enable/disable job, click them.

4. Finally, click run now.

Hope it will be helpful to you.

Hi Wendy,

thank you for your answer. I already checked the timer jobs and also ran them manually.

For me it's not that important when the document IDs are assigned. But it should be assigned to the documents as well. I will try it with a "fresh" teamsite and a not customized document set again because i don't know what settings the colleague has set.

Best regards

Stephan
