Do I need any previous versions
Hi There I just need confirmation and some advice on the following query. I want to deploy Configuration Manager 2007 sp2 on a Windows 7 machine. So my question is, do I need any previous versions of configuration manager or previous service packs, or can I just download the installation from this link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=3318741a-c038-4ab1-852a-e9c13f8a8140&displaylang=en and install service pack 2 of configuration manager. The title says of that download says "Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP2 Update" ... One thing makes me wonder. You wrote "deploy ... on a Windows 7 machine". Do you want to just install the client? What's your goal?

Hi No, one of my Windows 7 machines will run as my server for Configuration Manager 2007 SP2 I found the correct download: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=bad49573-6ad7-4521-a898-2ef99bc868c4&displaylang=en It is a full service pack 2 evaluation version of 180 days. This should give me enough time to test everything and maybe deploy a full version on Server 2008 later on. Thanks anyways.

You cannot install the server on Win7; you need a server class OS that is joined to the domain: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee344146.aspx

Okay then, guess I won't be installing Configuration Manager anytime soon. Thanks for all the info. Regards
