Hi,

I have setup 2 new Distribution points 2 days ago but neither seem to be installing / configuring. There are no entries in the Distribution point configuration status screen nor under distribution points in the administration tab. They are however under Servers and site system roles with the Roles of "Site System" and "Distribution point" 

I have setup many distribution points in the past and I believe that everything is configured correctly. the only difference is that the new ones are running server 2012.

Any ideas where to look next?

Do you see any errors in the monitoring node ? (Distribution Point Configuration Status)

There is nothing in the Distribution Point Configuration Status for these 2 distribution points. (I mean its literally not listed as a distribution point.)

The only place I see it referenced is under servers and site systems roles on the administration tab...

0x800706BA = The RPC server is unavailable.

Are the firewall on the new DP configured correct?

The firewall is not enabled on either of the servers.

Do you have errors locally on your distribution point ?

There is no SMS_DP$ on either server. it looks as though the configuration hasn't even started.

Have you review the requirements for Windows 2012 ? They are different of W2008.

Ive been looking for the reqs for server 2012 r2 but cant seem to find anything... We previously set up a Server 2012 DP which is working fine but I can't see any differences.

im just wondering if its not installing because I have a Orphaned DP which died. there are errors in the logs of:

+1 on this, but for new 2008R2 DP, connecting to a secondary site and it started to happen recently.

We get no entries in distribution point configuration status, nothing in the dist log that it even tries.. no files or folders created on the new DP.

Do you have any updates on this we have a case with MS on this right now.

Turns out it was because i had a " in the description field for one of my other Distribution points. The week before i noticed this issue i had gone through a process of adding descriptions to the DPs. the " messes with the database.
