Distribution and Security Groups not current
What I'm trying to achieveWhen compiling Audiences in MOSS, I would like to be able to select Distribution and Security Groups from the Peoplepicker control where thecontrolonly shows Groups that currently exist in AD.The problem I'm experiencingWhen I set up Audiences, I can adda ruleinthe page /_layouts/Audience_DefRuleEdit.aspx that defines the membership group of users. When I choosefromthepeoplepicker control to define the group membership value for the rule I'm prompted to pick from a selection ofDistribution or Security Groups thatare not current. In fact some of the groups have not existed in approximately a month.EnvironmentMOSS RTM, 1 WFE + 1 DB serverWhat I've triedI've tried resetting all crawled content, stopped and started the Office Search Service recreated the indexing service, added a range of peoplepicker properties to the Shared Services web app all to no avail.Where is the People picker "in the setting Audience rules context" getting its Distribution and Security groups from? I've found that the groups it is returning do not always exist in AD and are very out of date. Thanks for readingBen

How often is your User Profile synchronizing? This is what synchronizes users and their group memberships with active directory (or a custom source). It may need to run a full import of profiles more often. I would start there and run a full import to see if that will help. You may need to run it a few times, as items usually have to be missing from import 3 times before the profile will be deleted. I am not positive this will affect the groups listed in the People Picker, but it would be a good place to start. Lori G.
