Distributed Application Design
HI, Answer to your question is YES. you can do it. the condition to be set is 'worst of all' . if both node goes down , the status is critical. Make a virtual node with two physical nodes comming out of it in the design as you do in the power point. You can do it on blank template of predefined, however you want to doesnt matter. templates are there just for your conveninence. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb381200.aspx ============================================================ Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. I am creating my first distributed app and have a few questions. This application has 3 main components the web server, logic server, database server. The monitored services on NODE1 and NODE2 are clustered and only needs to display critical if both are down (Is this possible to configure?) How do I lay out the components within the designer to separate each node? Do I create blank components for each node? Is a structure like below recommended? Sorry if I am not explaining this well. +---DATABASE SERVER | +---NODE1 | | +---OS | | \---SERVICES | \---NODE2 | +---OS | \---SERVICES +---LOGIC SERVER | +---NODE1 | | +---OS | | \---SERVICES | \---NODE2 | +---OS | \---SERVICES \---WEBSERVER +---NODE1 | +---OS | \---SERVICES \---NODE2 +---OS \---SERVICES EDIT: I think I see how to set the health roll up http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/operationsmanagergeneral/thread/eb03922b-3399-4978-81c2-e73026daf5fc/ but my question still stands with the design of the application. Do I lump all the services in under one "webserver" component or do i create a new component for each node

stupid question but how do i create a virtual node? The diagram view only seems to display "Healthy" and "Not Monitored" for the second tier. Is there any way to lay this diagram view in a logical order (by server role?)
