Disk partition issue with OSD
We have a peculiar problem with disk partitioning in OSD.
We are creating two partitions on the disk: C - 40% and D - 60%. Both are formatted using quick format and are set as primary partitions.
When the image has been deployed to target machines, the disks are sized as per above, however, we have 24% unallocated space on all machines we deploy to.
Can anyone offer ay advice as to what may be causing this space to be unallocated?
Thanks

how are you creating those partitions, using diskpart and a script or using the built in format and partition step ?

Using the builtin format and partition step. Are there known issues with this approach?

Because these don't say 40 and 60% of the total amount of space on the drive, they say 40 and 60% of the remianing unallocated free space on the drive. Thus, the first says 40% of the unallocated space which leaves 60% unallocated and then the second says
60% of 60% which leaves 24% of the total drive space unallocated.
Example to prove the math:
- 100GB drive
- 40% (of 100GB) for C = 40GB: 60GB remaining
- 60% (of 60GB) for D = 36GB : 24GB remaining (24% of 100GB)
Side question: Are these workstations? If so, why partition them at all? It *will* make your life more complicated and does not solve any real problems.

Ahhh, good point!
So for C: if i say 40% and D: say 100%, this should solve my problem.
As for why partition, this is the way it has been in the past and is the brief i was given for my design. Therefore, hands are tied.

"Therefore, hands are tied."
Time to untie them :-) There's an iceberg off your port bow.Jason | http://blog.configmgrftw.com | Twitter @JasonSandys

as jason says, try and avoid partitioning, particularly if you are considering bitlocker in the future.

Thanks for the heads up both on partitioning, as we will be moving to bitlocker in the not so distant future.
For awareness, what problems would we expect to encounter in the future with seperate partitions when using bitlocker?

It's mainly about confusion and complexity. Adding a second workstation paritin provides no benefits and thus just introduces one more thing to worry about.Jason | http://blog.configmgrftw.com | Twitter @JasonSandys
