Differences between Site Assignment and Client Deployment Settings in ConfigMgr 2007 ADM template
Hi, I'm trying to deploy client using GPO, but when I navigate to Configuration Manager 2007 ADM template, there is 2 type of settings in there: 1. Configuration Manager 2007 Site Assignment 2. Configuration Manager 2007 Client Deployment Settings The question is, what to consider to use which template OR can I use both template to get it work on GPO? And for Configuration Manager 2007 Site Assignment, there is a small red mark on the object, what does that mean? Thank you in advanced :)---Packie

One is to actually install the client. The client can be assigned during install. The other would be to simply assign clients. Once you assign clients via GPO it'a a real pain to reassign them any other way because the assignment is tattood in the registry. I try to avoid the GPO install or assignment any time I can. Hi, 1) Site Assignment is used to assign clients to a specific ConfigMgr. site 2) Client Deployment settings is used to define ConfigMgr. client installation properties For the red mark check this short article - http://technet.microsoft.com/fr-fr/library/cc739211(WS.10).aspxKent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund

I have my site with AD schema extended, and client installation method with Properties defined with only SMSSITECODE=AAA Can I enable both policies in a GPO? or should I enable one only?---Packie

If the schema is extended then there is no need to "proload" the installation properties using a GPO. Clients will automatically query AD for site settings and installation properties.Kent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund
