Difference between download policy and apply policy
Just curious about the difference between Download Machine Policy and Apply Machine Policy in Roger Zander's excellent SCCM Client Center v2. I tried to submit this on sourceforge but kept getting an error. Am I supposed to download the policy, wait a minute and then apply it? Or does download actually apply after its downloaded? What does the Actions tab in the "Configuration Manager" control panel do when run locally, is it any different? Thanks!

Hi Steve, Before ConfigMgr SP2 updates were downloaded and applied after minutes (machine policies). With SP2 policies are being applied when they are downloaded.Kent Agerlund | http://scug.dk/members/Agerlund/default.aspx | The Danish community for System Center products

The answer to your question Steve is no. As Kent said, the agent will automatically apply new policies. The reason he (Roger) has the two tasks is because there are actually two separate API calls. The Apply Policy exists to reapply a policy that was already downloaded. The method used is described in the SDK: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc146704.aspx.Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | http://blogs.catapultsystems.com/jsandys/default.aspx | Twitter @JasonSandys
