Did I make a mistake getting an HP rather than Apple?

I had vowed not to get another PC for my business due to the many anti-virus programs needed to maintain my privacy & security.  I received this (I'm using now) beautiful laptop as a gift, (just try this one) and set it up with some of my simpler programs that I use every day.

Now I'm finding that the anti-virus won't let some of my programs run, many pop-ups explaining that my add-on's aren't running - then finding out it didn't come with the programs I need/use to run my business (Word, Excel & Publisher).  Instead it has OneNote and WordPad.  I cannot transfer over my files to this beautiful (yet unusable) new machine, because there is no program to read them!

Can I do a factory restore to Windows 7 to regain some of the functionality that I'm familiar with and the programs (that I already bought) can be loaded into?

Thoughts/suggestions???
