Descending order sorting in External list does not work

Hello guys,

My LobSystem is a sql server db with content being displayed in an external list. However, the descending order sorting does not work in my external list for any column.

I've tried installing Feb CU's for both Foundation and Server, but that didnt help.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Thanks.

No errors. It just sorts it Ascending always.

Thanks.

How did you create the external content type ? With Sharepoint Designer ?

  I found a workaround ..

Instead of creating the External List from the BCS connection. I used the Business Data Web part to get data directly from BCS. The web part let me sorting and paging.

I hope this helps

I am facing the same issue. This is not a solution but just the work around -- using  a different webpart.

The sorting in the XSLT list WebPart works for other lists, but does not work for External list and that's a bug.

This needs to be reported to Microsoft

Does someone know how to remove the sorting functions from the external list? I don't want the users upset about the malfunctions.

I appreciate your helps.

This is not even applicable to the standard or foundation versions. So its not a feasible work around.

Has anyone tried resolving this by applying the February 2013 CU update?  It addresses this similar issue:

Assume that you enable the inline editing feature for a custom list that contains some list items. When you try to sort the list items in descending order, the list items are unexpectedly sorted in ascending order.

I saw this. But I'm not sure if this hotfix is applicable because it pertains a custom list and not an external list. I haven't tested to see if this problem also exists with a custom list.
