Deploying a Site Definition as a Feature
Hi all, I need to deploy a custom Site Definition that was created as a feature in MOSS 2007.I am unable to find any relevant material on this. Please provide few pointers on the process or useful links regarding this. NOTE:- I am not to use any Tools such as SPD or Visual Studio and No Coding is allowed. Thanks,

How was the definition created then? The rawest thing to do if you need to deploy a custom definition that has already been created is: - Navigate to the \12\Template\SiteTemplates Put your site definition in this directory, making sure it doesn´t conflict with any other file directory Reset IIS You should be able to create new sites using this template.http://www.final-exodus.net

Hi Steven, The Site Definition is already created using XML files only such as ONET.XML and WEBTEMP.XML. I created features for Site Content Types and Site Columns. I am now in a Process of Creating Sub Sites with XML itself. So I want to know how to pack this Site Definition into a Feature and deploy it through WSP so that it will be easier to control. Hope you got the info required. Thanks

If you´ve got download permissions and are allowed to run applications, try this, the WSP Builder from codeplex. http://wspbuilder.codeplex.com/ Failing that, you can learn how to build one manually here http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc263911%28v=office.12%29.aspxhttp://www.final-exodus.net

> will get back if further any issues.. Please get back (= mark the Steven post as an answer) if anything in the links he gives solves your problem. Only getting back if you have problems doesn't tell us when your problem has been solved, does it?
